Cruise for a Cause 5 – September 8, 2005
We were floating on air on a beautiful September evening as we departed with over 220 guests on board. Having sampled the oysters and hors d’oeuvres on the
pier, many of our guests decided it was time to sample the free martinis as well – setting about it enthusiastically. As usual, the martini bar was a big hit.
So too, were the items in the silent auction, generously donated by local business owners who can always be counted on to come up with something special –
helicopter rides, dinner and theatre tickets, and an array of beautiful jewellery – being but a few examples. As usual, the food was excellent with dinner
being prepared on board and complemented by a selection of “treats” from our sponsors.
Not everything was plain sailing though! Departure was delayed by a little “confusion” on the pier and dancing was somewhat restricted. So, apologies to
our guests and a promise that it won’t happen again. We learn something new on every cruise! Apart from that, the evening went extremely well and everyone
seemed to have a great time if the pictures of the cruise are anything to go by.
There were plenty of new faces this time and a lot of familiar ones. It’s always good to see familiar faces and gives us the feeling that we must be doing
something right. After all, they wouldn’t come back unless they were looking forward to another great night out on the lake. We hope to see many of you
again on our 2006 cruises out of Port Credit and Oakville. The same can be said of the folks who contribute so much to these events. Without their help and
generous donations, the Cruise for a Cause simply wouldn’t get underway. Once again, “Thank You All.”
